Workshop: Forecasting and New Technologies in Migration and Asylum Governance: State of Play and New Developments, 5 November 2025, Paris, France

4th Workshop «Forecasting and New Technologies in Migration and Asylum Governance: State of Play and New Developments

The General Directorate for Foreign Nationals in France of the Ministry of the Interior, EMN France and EMN Luxembourg are pleased to share with you the save the date for the upcoming workshop “Forecasting and new technologies in migration and asylum governance: state of play and new developments”.

This workshop was first organized by EMN Luxembourg in 2021. While its thematic focus remains consistent each year, we strive to offer fresh perspectives and new insights annually.

For the forth year in a row we bring together wide range of stakeholders – representatives from EU agencies, international organisations, experts of migration authorities, practitioners, researchers, academics to present their ongoing work on the use of new technologies in the migration and asylum governance.

As migration flows become increasingly complex due to wide variety of factors such as armed conflicts, climate change, and economic disparity, the ability to anticipate trends through forecasting becomes essential for timely, humane, and effective policy responses.

However, technological advancements also raise ethical, legal, and privacy concerns that must be carefully managed. The intersection of technology and migration governance offers both great opportunities and significant challenges, demanding a balanced, transparent, and rights-based approach to ensure that innovation serves both state interests and human dignity.
